What’s your #1 priority tomorrow?
In 2 Kings 6 : 28 -29.
Ben-Hadad had besieged the city of Samaria again this time there was a devastating famine in the city. Even the things that were unclean under the Levitical Law the people had no other choice but to kill and eat them .The famine was so devastating that two mothers made a cannibalistic agreement with their sons lives for survival.
Today and Tomorrow.
These two mothers in this besieged city of Samaria both made this cannibalistic agreement to cook and eat sons on consecutive days ‘today’ and ‘tomorrow’.One mother told the other mother she should prepare her son for ‘today’s meal so they could eat,then ‘tomorrow’ her son would be on the menu.They both agreed.What an evil web one mother weaved and the other desperate and naive.
First mother did as the agreement stated effective ‘today‘ its her son, what a heartbreaking act of desperation.However here comes the anticipated ‘tomorrow’ for second mother who came up with this cannibalistic agreement who had no intention to follow through with her son’s life
Second mother is now facing her ‘ tomorrow‘ but she is no longer going by the agreement she hid her son. Faced with the unbearable choice to have her son on ‘today’s menu she refused to go according to agreement she concocted. She knew fully well that ‘ tomorrow always circle right back to become ‘ today, the day she chooses life for child ,the day she knew ‘ label’ on her ‘ tomorrow ‘ would change to ‘TODAY’.
Perhaps “today” and “tomorrow” were the names of the sons
