More-“itis” Just A LITTLE BIT MORE ?

JUST  A LITTLE BIT MORE

Believers have reason to be content. Yet I’m afraid that too often we are not satisfied with the blessings we have. Like so many others, we always want just a little bit more. The holiday season is fast approaching we can watch for more and more ads. coming out but we should ask ourselves how many of them are really needed.

Contentment: “And having food and raiment let’s be therewith be content.” 1 Peter 6 :8.

Human nature seem afflicted with harmful sickness of “more-itis”a desire for more material wealth and possession. It is a desire that seems impossible to satisfy the more we have the more we want .Peter is simply saying we should be happy, at ease and at peace.

Food and Raiment ( clothes).

Food, reffered to as the “staff of life” it includes all that is necessary to eat and drink. Our body need food to function, source of energy and nutrients etc. Raiment goes hands in gloves with food clothes is necessary to cover our body in this context of the Word it also means “shelter” as in house. There we go Food, Clothes,House and Family. Nothing wrong with having a beautiful house, fine threads, cars, dining without getting with sick with “more-itis”

” More-itis” : Socrates Way of Overcoming It.

I love to go there to discover how many things I am perfectly happy without” Socrates”

Socrates lived a frugal lifestyle even didn’t wear shoes, often times he would go to the bazzar. He walk around looking at luxurious and expensive things that was his way of dealing with “just a little more”. He realized that possessions could in the end possess us.The more we have the more we want. ” Moreitis” – Should it be classified an illness like other ” ITISES”? His diagnosis in the form of a question, that was his style of making points.

Let’s remind ourselves as believers the words of Paul ” Not that I speak in respect of want ; for I have learned, in whatever state I am, in this to be content ” ( Philippians: 4 :11) Even unbelievers can understand Socrates one of the greatest philosophers quotes are Bible principles. Timothy and Paul were saying the same thing.

CONTENTMENT COMES NOT FROM GREAT WEALTH BUT FROM FEW WANTS.

“This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it. Psalms 118:24. I try to live by this old time saying that my grandmother would say, ” do not hang your basket where you cannot reach it” So, I try not to live live above my needs. Whatever I don’t have I do without and until I can purchase it. Whatever God have in store for me I will not be denied, I just have to wait upon Him and rejoice in the day that he as gives me. I don’t know what tomorrow holds, but if we seek the kingdom of God first and his righteousness, all these things will be added to us. Therefore I don’t want to be anxious about tomorrow, because tomorrow will take care of itself. Everyday we live, we face new situations, so we must learn to be content regardless of our situations. Lets keep our eyes on the positive and not the negative.
