They Were So Wrong.
They Were So Wrong.

They Were So Wrong.

The way things appear to us today is not always a true picture of the future . With the advancement of knowledge and technology, many people were wrong about their predictions. For instance take a look at some of the things that were said about computer, telephone, radio, airplanes, electricity, going to the moon, performing surgery on the human body will never happen.

( Popular Mechanics ,forecasting the relentless march of science, 1949 )

I have traveled the length and breadth of this country and talked with the best people, and I can assure you that data processing is a fad that won’t last out the year.

( the editor in charge of business books for Prentice Hall, 1957 )

But what is it good for ?

( engineer at the Advanced Computering Systems of IMB, commenting on the microchip, 1968 ).

( Western Union internal Memo, 1876 )

( David Sarnoff’s associates in response to his urgings for investment in the radio in the 1920s )

We can look back and see how very wrong many people were about these inventions that have become so common, for man’s understanding and knowledge has increased continually and inventions have soared upward more and more.

Clearly,we are to monitor and control what we read , see, hear ,and think about. If we discipline our minds to think only on the positive, right, and lovely things of life , we will have the necessary principles and guidance for embracing and using modern technology correctly.
