DEFENDERS OF FREEDOM

Many years ago, Albert Einstein said that when the Nazi revolution came in Germany,he looked to the universities and the newspapers to stand against the forces of tyranny. But both of these were quickly silenced. He declared, “Only the church squarely across the path of Hitler’s campaign for suppressing freedom. I never had any special interest in the church before, but I confess that what I once despised I know praise unreservedly “.

These words reminded me of Galatians 5:1 ,where Paul urges believers to stand fast in the liberty they have in Jesus Christ. The apostle is referring to our release from the bondage of the law,and he is applying this truth to our daily walk with the Lord. False teachers had sold the Galatians converts on the idea that to remain saved they had to observe special days months and years. They were saying in effect, that they were “made perfect by the flesh” (Galatians 3:3) But Paul strongly warned against such bondage

We as believers should be careful to hold persistently to all that Jesus Christ our Lord and Saviour did for us on the cross. We know we can’t save ourselves from Hell, but it’s easy to think that we can please God by keeping a ritualistic set of rules or adhere to rigid cultural standards. If this is the case, we have fallen into the gross error of the Galatian believers and have given up our priceless Freedom.

May God help us to walk by faith, the Bible says that without faith its impossible to please God,we must rely on the Spirit of God and stand fast in “the liberty with which Jesus Christ hath made us free.”Now that we are free there is no more condemnation Jesus Christ provides a perfect Salvation. True freedom is found only in Jesus Christ.

Matthew 11:28-30 “Come unto me all ye tha labour and are heavy laden, and I will you rest. Take my yoke my yoke upon you,and learn of me for I am lowly and meek in heart and ye shall find rest unto your souls.”
